Answer:

It will take approximately 36 Years to Poorland to catch up to Richland.

Explanation:

Given data:

The GDP increase in Poorland per year = 1 %

The GDP increase in Richland per year = 3 %

Calculations:

Step 1: For Richland:

The formula for calculating the per year GDP increase for Richland is:

GDP = 10,000 + (10,000 x (1/100)) ---- (1)

GDP for first Year = 10,100$

GDP for second Year = 10,201 $

Similarly using the formula (1) we calculated the values for 10 and 20 years

GDP for 10th Year = 11046.2$

GDP for 20th Year = 12201.9$

Step 2: For Poorland:

The formula for calculating the per year GDP increase for Poorland is:

GDP = 5,000 + (5,000 x (3/100)) ---- (1)

GDP for first Year = 5,150$

GDP for second Year = 5,304.5 $

Similarly using the formula (1) we calculated the values for 10 and 20 years

GDP for 10th Year = 6719.6$

GDP for 20th Year = 9030.6$

Step 3: When will Poorland catch up to Richland:

By calculating values using the above formulas, we have found that for 38th year, Poorland will catch upto Richland and will have more GDP.

Poorland GDP for 36th Year = 14491.4$

Richland GDP for 36th Year = 14307.7$

Problem 8.20 Jenny Banks is interested in buying the stock of Fervan, Inc., which is increasing its dividends at a constant rate
blagie [28]

Answer:

a). The current value of this stock=$30.29

b). The price of the stock in year 5=$66.84

Explanation:

a). Current value of stock

Use the expression for calculating the required rate of return to solve for the  current value of stock as follows:

RRR=(EDP/SP)+DGW

where;

RRR=required rate of return

EDP=expected dividend payment

SP=share price

DGW=dividend growth rate

In our case:

RRR=17.15%=17.15/100=0.1715

EDP=$2.65

SP=unknown

DGW=8.4%=8.4/100=0.084

replacing in the original expression;

0.1715=(2.65/SP)+0.084

2.65/SP=0.1715-0.084

2.65/SP=0.0875

SP=2.65/0.0875=30.28571

The share price of the stock=$30.29

The current value of this stock=$30.29

b). Future value of stock

The future value of stock can be expressed as;

Future value={(required rate of return+1)^number of years}×current stock price

where;

required rate of return=17.15%=17.15/100=0.1715

number of years=5

current stock price=$30.29

replacing;

30.29×{(0.1715+1)^5)}

30.29×{1.1715^5}

The price of the stock in year 5=$66.84

Kurt Simmons has 65/110/20 auto insurance coverage. One evening, he lost control of his vehicle, hitting a parked car and damagi
sweet-ann [11.9K]

Answer:

$20,000

Explanation:

Auto insurance is taken on vehicles to cover for damages that occur during a car accident. There are limits to the amount covered for different categories of loss and injury.

The losses can be property loss, bodily harm, or legal issues.

The three aspects covered by auto insurance are: bodily injury liability cover, property damage liability, and uninsured motorist coverage.

In this instance Kurt Simmons has 65/110/20 auto insurance coverage.

This means he has a $65,000 cover for bodily injury per person, $110,000 total bodily injury per accident, and $20,000 property damage coverage per accident.

Since the damage to the parked car and the store are property damages, the insurance company will pay $20,000 for the damages.

Kurt will have to pay the balance.
