Hi there!

To solve this equation, we can use distributive property.

I listed the terms you have to multiply :
x² × x² = x^4
x² × 2x = 2x³
x² × 5 = 5x²
2x × x² = 2x³
2x × 2x = 4x²
2x × 5 = 10x
-1 × x² = -x²
-1 × 2x = -2x
-1 × 5 = -5

Add all of them....
x^4 + 2x³ + 5x² +2x³ + 4x² + 10x - x² - 2x - 5
add up the like terms to simplify

x^4 + 4x³ + 8x² + 8x - 5

Hope this helped! :)

Answer:

x = 1, XZ = 48

Step-by-step explanation:

So you already have the diagram with the number labeled,

4(x + 5) and 2(x + 11)

We know that Y is the midpoint between X and Z so we know that XY = YZ:

4(x + 5) = 2(x + 11)

Let's solve the equation for x:

4x + 20 = 2x + 22 (Distributive Property)

Subtract 20 from both sides:

4x = 2x + 2

Subtract 2x from both sides:

2x = 2

Divide both sides by 2:

x = 1

So now we know that x = 1, we want to find XZ:

XZ = 4(x + 5) + 2(x + 11)

We can plug in x (1):

XZ = 4(1 + 5) + 2(1 + 11)

Simplify:

XZ = 4(6) + 2(12)

XZ = 24 + 24

XZ = 48

A hot-air balloon is 1550 feet off the ground and its altitude is slowly changing at a constant rate of −712 feet per second.
stiks02 [169]

Building and solving an equation to model the situation, it is found that it will take 1.52 seconds for the balloon to drop to below 465 feet.

 • The initial height is of 1550 feet.
 • Each second, the height decreases by 712 feet.

Hence, the equation that models the height of the balloon after t seconds is:

h(t) = 1550 - 712t

To find how many seconds, s, will it take for the balloon to drop to below 465 feet, we have to find t for which h(t) < 465, hence:

h(t) < 465

1550 - 712t < 465

712t > 1085

t > \frac{1085}{712}

t > 1.52

It will take 1.52 seconds for the balloon to drop to below 465 feet.

What is the value of the product (3 - 2i(3 + 2i?
ZanzabumX [31]

Answer:

i is always positive

Step-by-step explanation:

if be multiply 3 by 3 and get 9, then you multiply -2i by 2i and get -4i squared

9-4i^2 is now easy to solve unless we do now know the value of i, but since i is squared, i is always positive
