In the late 1800s, roads, buildings, and utilities were repaired in specific New York City neighborhoods when citizens want to have an improved services that is provided by the government. These repairs are also a way of the government to take care of the city that they are handling.
Following this news, many people feared the world was on the brink of nuclear war. However, disaster was avoided when the U.S. agreed to Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev's (1894-1971) offer to remove the Cuban missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba.

Money emerged out of the barter economy when goldsmiths kept gold for people and gave them receipts instead. The receipts became the "money".
In the 1600s, a lot of London merchants would place their gold in locked storage rooms of the goldsmiths in the city for preservation; the goldsmiths would give receipts to the merchants. The receipts could also be cashed in for gold, which had real value.
