Answer:

The cube has a greater volume

Step-by-step explanation:

The volume of a cylinder of height H and diameter radius D has a volume given by the area of the base (a circle of radius D/2), and the  height H.

Notice also that the cube has the same edge dimensions of the cylinder, so as a cube has equal length, width, an height, that means that the height H of the cylinder must also be the same dimension of its diameter (H = D)

So we can refer all quantities as D:

Volume of the cylinder = \pi\,r^2\,h=\pi\,(\frac{D}{2})^2\,(D)=\frac{\pi}{4} D^3

while the volume of a cube of side "D" is :

Volume of the cube = D^3

Notice as well that the number \pi is smaller than 4, therefore the fraction \frac{\pi}{4} = 0.7854 that multiplies D^3 in the volume of the cylinder, is reducing its value.

Therefore the cube has a larger volume than the cylinder.

An ornithologist has 4 bird feeders at separate locations. She wonders if birds are equally likely to visit each of the feeders.
Marianna [84]

Answer:

the x² test statistic 13.71

Option a) 13.71 is the correct answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the data in the question;

Feeder                     1      2      3       4

Observed visits; o_i  60   90   92    58

data sample = 300

Expected e_i = 300 / 4 = 75

the x² test statistic = ?

X^2_{stat = ∑[ (o_i - e_i)²/e_i]

X^2_{stat = [ (60 - 75)² / 75 ] + [ (90 - 75)² / 75 ] + [ (92 - 75)² / 75 ] + [ (58 - 75)² / 75 ]

X^2_{stat = [ 3 ] + [ 3 ] + [ 3.8533 ] + [ 3.8533 ]

X^2_{stat = 13.7066 ≈ 13.71

Therefore, the x² test statistic 13.71

Option a) 13.71 is the correct answer.

Decide whether each of these sets of data is discrete or continuous.
Sauron [17]
Hey there. Discrete data is usually date which is counted. Continuous data is data that can be measured, and can take any type of value. So for this, a) Continuous, b) Discrete c) Continuous, d) Discrete

Hopefully this should be right! :)
