In summer squash fruit color exhibits epistatsis. There are two genes that affect the color, W and G, and each has two alleles o

ne dominant and one recessive. White color is caused by the dominant W allele. This allele is epistatic to G; that is, any squash with a W allele is white, regardless of the genotype for G. If and only if the fruit is homozygous ww, then G_ produces a green fruit and gg produces a yellow one. Assume you have a white squash of genotype (WwGg) which you mated with green squash of genotype (wwGg). Fill out the Punnet square below and then predict the phenotypic ratio in the offspring.

                                                   2/16 wwgg

F1 Phenotypic proportions:

  • 8/16 are White fruits: 2/16 WwGG, 4/16 WwGg, 2/16 Wwgg. As W suppresses the expression of G or g, whenever W is present (as WW or Ww), the fruit color is white.
  • 6/16 Green fruits: 4/16 wwGg, 2/16 wwGG.
  • 2/16 Yellow fruits: 2/16 wwgg.

As ww does not suppress the expression of G or g, whenever ww is present, the fruit color might be green (wwGG or wwGg) or yellow (wwgg).

galina1969 [7]

Answer:

The answer should be "The results failed to support the hypothesis that hummingbirds are most attracted to the color yellow" because in the question Rashad and Kendra made a hypothesis that the color yellow attracts hummingbirds more than other colors and carried out an experiment. Their results, however, contradict with their hypothesis as out of all the hummingbird feeders of different colors the one that is color red has the least amount of food left, therefore implying more visits from the hummingbirds.

You discover a new type of gland associated with the skin. Chemical analysis of the product shows a secretion has a pH of 4, con
vagabundo [1.1K]

A) option is correct

Explanation:

Skin has two types of sweat glands: eccrine and apocrine

Eccrine glands occur over most of the body and open directly onto the surface of skin whereas apocrine glands open into the hair follicle, leading to the surface of the skin and develop in areas abundant in hair follicles, such as on scalp, armpits and groin

The eccrine gland is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system and regulates body temperature

In some animals, when internal temperature rises the eccrine glands secrete water to the skin surface, where heat is removed by evaporation

Eccrine glands when active are considered major thermoregulatory devices

Smaller mammals, such as rodents, cannot endure dehydration and hence possess no eccrine glands at all

In the initial period of learning, ________ describes when an organism learns to connect a neutral stimulus and an unconditioned
Kipish [7]

Answer:

Option A, Acquisition

Explanation:

The first stage of learning is known as acquisition. It causes establishment of responses by pairing of Neutral stimulus, conditioning and un-conditioning stimulus. Once the association between a neutral stimulus and conditioned stimulus is established, the responses are acquired.

For example – If a bird is trained to pick a key whenever there is a sound of a bell, then after certain period of time an association will be established between the “ringing of bell” and “picking up of key” activity. Therefore, whenever the bird will hear the ringing sound it will search for key to be picked.

Thus, option A is correct.
