Proteins are made from the carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, as well as nitrogen. The nucleic acid like DNA and RNA has carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and the phosphorus in it. The body also requires small amount of calcium, potassium and sulphur for the proper functioning of the muscles as well as the nerves.
