History

Answer:

Explanation:

The Cold War, to the USA, was "fought" to hinder the spread of Communism. To the USSR, it was "fought" to spread the ideals of communism and squash capitalism. This was a traumatic and anxious time for the entire world, as the two superpowers kept adding to their nuclear stockpile due to distrust. The two nations never came to a violent conflict with each other. Instead, they both supported opposite sides of regional conflicts. For example, the Vietnam War. The USA supported the democratic south, while the USSR supported the communist north. The two countries made their beliefs known and indirectly fought with each other at the expense of another.

What do you think the greatest obstacle the allies had to overcome on D Day ?
e-lub [12.9K]

The general consensus is that the greatest obstacle to a successful invasion of D-Day was the problem posed by the English Channel.

An invasion across the English channel had only been done successfully once before in history, in 1066 when William the Conqueror led the Normans across to defeat Harold at the Battle of Hastings.

The English Channel provides a number of logistical and tactical problems in that it is difficult to cross, in some weather, but also that the opposing army is given time to prepare.
