There was lot of tension towards European Jewry during 1903 amon European countries but most signifcantly in Germany where Jews were mostly social elite, greatest exemple of Nazi actions against Jews were Nuremberg Laws introduced in 1935 which took from Jews even natural roghts in the face of new law, after the conquest of Europe the laws was spred among Jews in occupied countries in occupied Poland Jews were forced to stetle in ghettos for better control of them (Jews in Poalnd were members of varid diferen social classes before the war and their number was highest in Europe more than 3,3 million 9% of Poland population) for better organization any contacts with Jews were penlized in  Poland for exemple  helping Jewish ghetto runaway was punished by death by German authorities for those who shelter Jews including whole family and neighbors

At first King reasons in the letter that he is not of the extremists, he is actually between two extremes in the black community of militant black nationalism and complacency with the status quo. His use of the word extremist adds to the critical tone of the text as he is speaking directly to the clergy who called him extremist and he criticizes all white moderates.

Explanation:

Martin Luther King is turning the tables with his use of the word extremist because it was a label the white moderates applied to him and his followers. First he shows in paragraph 27 that he is not the extremist, that the black Nationalists are the more extreme dissenters who do advocate violence and reject the white population.  In the end King says that even Jesus Christ was an extremist and he was charged and punished for it with the extreme act of crucifixion.  King says also evokes Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson as extreme in their ideas and says there is actually a need for “creative extremism” to progress towards civil rights and social justice.

Johann Tetzel started selling indulgences Wittenberg to anyone who was be kind enough to donate the money for the reconstruction effort in Rome where they were rebuilding the Cathedral of St. Peter. This prompted Luther to nail his famous 95 Theses on the door of the Church in Wittenberg as Luther believed that faith alone is enough to grant salvation through Jesus Christ. This would later start the great wave of Protestantism.
