Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

In costing analysis, direct materials, labour and direct expenses aggregate to prime cost. Alternately, the aggregate of indirect materials, labour and expenses is termed as overhead. Overheads are classified into fixed and variable.

Variable overhead is one which varies directly as per number of units produced

Variable overhead rate variance = actual costs -(AHxSR)

= Actual costs - (Actual hours x std rate)

= Actual hours x actual rate - actual hours x std rate

Hence option D is right.

A variable contains five categories. It is expected that data are uniformly distributed across these five categories. To test th
lubasha [3.4K]

Answer:

33.293 ± 0.01= 33.303 and 33.383,

Step-by-step explanation:

We first need to fit a normal distribution , but neither the mean nor the standard deviation is given . We therefore estimate the sample mean and sample standard deviation s. Using the data we find ∑fx=378 and

∑fx²=1344    so that mean x` = 2.885 or 2.9   and standard deviation s =1.360

x        f                fx       x²         fx²

1       27             27        1          27

2       30           60         4          120

3       29           87         9          261

4       21            84         16        336

5       24           120       25        600

      ∑f=131      ∑fx=378             ∑fx²=1344

Mean = x`=  ∑fx/   ∑f=  2.9

Standard Deviation = s= √∑fx²/∑f-(∑fx/∑f)²

                  s= √1344/131 - (378/131)²

                   s= √10.26-(2.9)²

                     s= √10.26- 8.41

                    s= √1.85= 1.360

Next we need to compute the expected frequencies for all classes and the value of chi square. The necessary calculations for expected frequencies , ei`s ( ei= npi`) where pi` is the estimate of pi together with the value of chi square are shown below.

5                    1.54        0.937          0.1489        19.51                 24

Next we need to compute the expected frequencies for all classes and the value of chi square. The necessary calculations for expected frequencies , ei`s ( ei= npi`) where pi` is the estimate of pi together with the value of chi square are shown below.

Categories           Expected         Observed       (oi-ei)²/ei

                       frequency ei Frequency Oi OBSERVED VALUE

1                            10.78                  27                     24.41

2                          22.57                30                         1.54

3                          35.80                 29                        1.29

4                         34.08                21                           5.02

5                          19.51                 24                         1.033

Total                                              131                   33.293

There are five categories , we have used the sample mean and sample standard deviation , so the number of degrees of freedom is 5-1-2= 2

The critical region is chi square ≥ chi square (0.001)(2) =9.21

CONCLUSION:

Since the calculated value of chi square =9.21 does not fall in the critical region we are unable to reject our null hypothesis and conclude normal distribution provides a good fit for the given frequency distribution.

QUESTION 11.1
lawyer [7]

The group paid $ 5250 at first city and $ 6250 at second city

Solution:

Let x = the charge in 1st city before taxes

Let y = the charge in 2nd city before taxes

The hotel charge before tax in the second city was $1000 higher than in the first

Then the charge at the second hotel before tax will be x + 1000

y = x + 1000 ----- eqn 1

The tax in the first city was 8.5% and the tax in the second city was 5.5%

The total hotel tax paid for the two cities was $790

Therefore, a equation is framed as:

8.5 % of x + 5.5 % of y = 790

\frac{8.5}{100} \times x + \frac{5.5}{100} \times y = 790

0.085x + 0.055y = 790 ------- eqn 2

Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2

Substitute eqn 1 in eqn 2

0.085x + 0.055(x + 1000) = 790

0.085x + 0.055x + 55 = 790

0.14x = 790 - 55

0.14x = 735

x = 5250

Substitute x = 5250 in eqn 1

y = 5250 + 1000

y = 6250

Thus the group paid $ 5250 at first city and $ 6250 at second city

I get confused a lot with the "or" and "and". Please help, I have a test tomorrow!!
kenny6666 [7]

"and" is where they intersect

"or" is adding both circles (only add the intersection once)

Start at the end of the paragraph and work backwards:

10 people like all 3 flavors so write 10 in the middle (where all 3 intersect).

*************************************************************************************************

26 like coffee and pecan so write 16 where those two circles intersect. (26 - 10 = 16, remember that 10 are already included in both circles)

15 like mint and pecan so write 5 where those two circles intersect (15 - 10 = 5, remember that 10 are already included in both circles)

22 like mint and coffee so write 12 where those two circles intersect (22 - 10 = 12, remember that 10 are already included in both circles).

************************************************************************************************

48 like pecan so write 17 in the big circle (48 - 10 - 16 - 5).  The intersections contain 5, 16, and 10, so that leaves a remainder of 17.

52 like coffee so write 14 in the big circle (52 - 10 - 16 - 12).  The intersections contain 12, 16, and 10, so that leaves a remainder of 14.

30 like mint so write 3 in the big circle (30 - 10 - 12 - 5).  The intersections contain 5, 12, and 10, so that leaves a remainder of 3.

*********************************************************************************************

Answers:

a) 17 (big pecan circle only)

b) 60 (sum of all numbers in both mint and coffee circles)

c) 23 (the sum of every circle and intersection is 77, subtract that from 100)

d) 32 (pecan circle and intersections but not the pecan/coffee intersection)

e) 16 (intersection of pecan and coffee without the mint)
