Find tan θ if cos θ = 1/4 and sin θ < 0.
inn [45]
Hello :
cos²(θ) +sin²(<span>θ) = 1
(1/4)² +sin²(</span><span>θ) = 1
</span>sin²(θ) = 1 -1/16
sin²(θ) =15/16
sin(θ) = - √(15/16)=- √15/4    because : <span>sin θ < 0.
</span>tan (θ) =sin (θ)/  cos( θ) =(- √15/4)/(1/4) = - √15

Which sequences are arithmetic?check all that apply.
4vir4ik [10]

ANSWER

Option C and E

EXPLANATION

An arithmetic sequence has a constant difference among the consecutive terms.

The sequence

18,5.5,-7,-19.5,-32,...

has a constant difference of -12.5

d = 5.5 - 18 =  - 7 - 5.5 =  - 19.5 -  - 7 =  - 32 -  - 19.5 =  - 12.5

The sequence

16,32,48,64,80,...

also has a common difference of 16

d = 32 - 16 = 48 - 32 = 64 - 48 =80 -64 = 16

Therefore correct answers are C and E

Suppose f(x)=2^x. What is the graph of g(x)=1/3f(x)?
svetlana [45]

Please see the <em>blue</em> curve of the image attached below to know the graph of the function g(x) = (1/3) · 2ˣ.

<h3>How to graph a transformed function</h3>

Herein we have an <em>original</em> function f(x). The <em>transformed</em> function g(x) is the result of <em>compressing</em> f(x) by 1/3. Then, we find that g(x) = (1/3) · 2ˣ. Lastly, we graph both function on a <em>Cartesian</em> plane with the help of a <em>graphing</em> tool.

The result is attached below. Please notice that the <em>original</em> function f(x) is represented by the red curve, while the <em>transformed</em> function g(x) is represented by the blue curve.
