Find the x- and y-intercepts of the graph of the given equation.

Biology

y-intercept = -1.2

x-intercept = 9.0

y-intercept is where the line defining the equation on the graph meets with the y axis, while x-intercept is where the line meets x axis

Explanation:

At  y-intercept X = 0

Therefore we replace X with 0 in the equation;

-4x+3y=-3.6

-4*(0) + 3y = -3.6

0 + 3y = -3.6

y = -3.6/3

y = -1.2

At x-intercept y = 0

Therefore we replace y with 0 in the equation;

-4x + 3 * (0) = -3.6

-4x + 0 = -3.6

X = -3.6/-4

X = 9.0

The order in which the amino-acids are placed within the polypeptide determines the tertiary structure and therefore the function of the given protein. Amino acids have different functional groups like methyl(CH3), phenyl(C6H5). Those functional groups can interact with molecules like glucose determining reactions, the proteins that catalyze reactions are called enzymes. Other functional groups of amino acids can be the sulfate groups. For example, insulin has 2 polypeptide chains(Chain A has 21 amino acids, and chain B, 30). Between the two polypeptide chains, 2 disulfide bonds form altering its shape.

How does the possible impact of a chromosomal mutation that occurs?
Papessa [141]
  If the mutation occurs during meiosis, the mutation will be incorporated into a gamete. If that gamete is the one that eventually fuses with another gamete (i.e. if it's the sperm that fertilizes the egg), that mutation will be passed on to the offspring. As all the offspring's cells are the result of the first two gametes, all the organism's cells will have that mutation. Obviously this can have dire consequences for the offspring, if the mutation is harmful.
