beginning of 2001 and declined linearly to 10.3% at the beginning of 2011.
a. Find a linear function f(t) giving the percentage of high school students who drink and drive in year t, where t=0 corresponds to the beginning of 2001.
b. At what rate was the percentage of students who drink and drive dropping between 2001 and 2011?
c. If the trend continues, what will the percentage of high school students who drink and drive be at the beginning of 2014?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The percentage of high school students who drink and drive at the beginning of 2001   =   17.5%

The percentage of high school students who drink and drive at the beginning of 20011   =   10.3%

Rate of decrease = 17.5 - 10.3 / 10

= .72

The required linear function

f(t) =  - 0.72 x t + 17.5

b ) Rate of decrease in percentage = (17.5 - 10.3) / 10

= .72 %

c )  Percentage of high school students who drink and drive  at the beginning of 2014

t = 2014 - 2011 = 13

f(t) =  - 0.72 x t + 17.5

= - .72 x 13 + 17.5

= 8.14 %

Which table has a constant of proportionality between y and x of 1/5? (from khan academy)
katovenus [111]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve for each choice until you get the answer 1/5.

A.

2 - 4/5

10/5 - 4/5 = 6/5; this is not 1/5

B

8 - 8/5

40/5 - 8/5 = 32/5; this is not 1/5

C

3 - 16/5

15/5 - 16/5 = -1/5

5 - 26/5

25/5 - 26/5 = -1/5

7 - 36/5

35/5 - 36/5 = -1/5; although this is negative, it still has the same proportionality of 1/5

3 = 2 – x 3 = 2 – 2 – x 3 = –x 2003-03-02-00-00_files/i0110000.jpg –3 = x A. The student incorrectly applied the multiplication
rewona [7]
Answer:
B. The student did not properly apply the addition property to isolate x

Explanation:
When given an equation to solve, always remember that when you do an external operation (add/subtract/multiply a term or divide by a term) on one side of the equation, the same operation should be applied on the other side in order to maintain the equality of the equation.

Now, let's take a look on the steps done:
Step 1:
3 = 2 - x
Step 2:
3 = 2 - 2 - x
Step 3:
3 = -x

Now, note n step 2, the student wanted to get rid of the 2 next to the x, therefore, he subtracted 2. However, the student did not subtract the 2 from the other side of the equation. Since we're taking addition (we're adding a -2), therefore, the student incorrectly applied the addition property to isolate the x.

The correct steps would be as follows:
Step 1:
3 = 2 - x
Step 2:
3 - 2 = 2 - 2 - x
Step 3:
1 = - x

Hope this helps :)

How many
Wittaler [7]

Answer:

1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

Simplify the following:

(1/6)/(2/3)

Multiply the numerator by the reciprocal of the denominator, (1/6)/(2/3) = 1/6×3/2:

3/(6×2)

3/6 = 3/(3×2) = 1/2:

1/(2×2)

2×2 = 4:
