Martin Luther King Jr. - He would be seen as a real life hero, specially in today's society, because he stood up and advocated for people of color who were oppressed so that they would have equal rights and opportunity.

Abraham Lincoln - "Honest Abe" was a real life example of a hero by how he led this country as President. He was not corrupt and is an amazing example rising Presidents should follow.

Rosa Parks - She can be seen as a real life example, speaking out and standing up for her rights as a black woman, even in a world where that was unacceptable. Rosa Parks paved a way for many people of color, and that in and of itself was a heroic act.

Why was it important for the Confederacy top defend Richmond, Virginia?
Basile [38]

Answer:

It was important for the Confederacy to defend Richmond, Virginia because Richmond was the seat of the Confederate government (its capital). The loss of Richmond would be the Union equivalent of losing Washington D.C. to the Confederates. It was widely considered that the capture of the other side's capital would signal the end of the Civil War.

Why was a weak national government created under the Articles of Confederation
Gwar [14]
The articles gave the government no separation of powers. The government was too weak, the Articles left much of the power to the states (if I remember correctly, states basically went by their own state constitution). Congress didn't have the power to tax. To change the Articles, it had to be decided unanimously by all states. Also, 9 out of the 13 states had to approve any major law before it was passed and Congress couldn't regulate commerce. There was no president to lead, no established court system, and every state had only one vote in congress. Basically, the articles created no separate executive department to carry out and enforce the acts of Congress and no national court system to interpret the meaning of laws.
