Stevens was one of the men who adamantly voted for Johnson's impeachment. Though Johnson was not impeached, they were successful in taking Reconstruction overview from Johnson. when Johnson's cronies lost in the 1866 election, the Radicals took over and overruled Johnson's numerous vetoes. He supported Grant who often went along with the Senate's ideas before dying in 1868.

De Kalb joined the continental army from France with the rank of major general. De Kalb worked with Lafayette before and travelled to Philadelphia  to meet the continental congress.

He then joined Washington and worked with him. Although, Washington's enemies too jealous of his loyal commander in chief planned to remove him by proposing that Lafayette should lead an invasion in Canada, with De Kalb.

De Kalb served with Washington for a long time as a loyal commander until this happened.

Loialists believe that independence movements should be ended, as they opposed the control of the English crown in American territory. They argued that those who sought independence acted against the will of God, disrespected the king, promoted violence and would cause a tyrannical government to establish itself in A, erica. In addition, they believed that independence would cause America to have economic problems, as it would lose participation in British mercantilism.

Patriots, on the other hand, believed that independence was the best for America. They argued that the English crown was already establishing a tyrannical government, did not allow America to have representation in parliament, exploited American wealth and that independence was God's will for a territory as large and rich as America.
