A group of student set up an experiment to test the effects of exercise on the rate of cellular respiration. During the experime

nt, the students used a carbon dioxide indicator called Bromothymol Blue (BTB) to determine the amount of carbon dioxide produced by cellular respiration. The indicator changes from blue to green or yellow in the presence of carbon dioxide. Thus, the students measured the time it took for the color change to occur. Two trials were performed for each student. One before and one after exercise. During each trial, the students blew into the BTB solution with a plastic straw and measured how long it took for the color change to occur. Based on the data table below, what conclusions can be made about the effects of exercise on the rate of cellular respiration?
A: The data suggests that exercise decreases the rate of cellular respiration because more carbon dioxide was produced.

B:The data suggests that exercise increases the rate of cellular respiration because more carbon dioxide was produced.

C: The data suggests that exercise increases the rate of cellular respiration because less carbon dioxide was produced.

D: The data suggests that exercise decreases the rate of cellular respiration because less carbon dioxide was produced

The answer would be B:The data suggests that exercise increases the rate of cellular respiration because more carbon dioxide was produced.

The data has a consistent trend that show the time needed to change BTB color after exercising is much shorter compared to before exercising. If the time needed longer, this show that the amount carbon dioxide removed from the lungs is higher. The reaction that power up the muscle will produce carbon dioxide as side product in cellular respiration.

Why don’t free amino acids have peptide bonds? What is a free amino acid exactly?
slega [8]

Explanation:

Free amino acid do not have a peptide bond , as the amino acid act as a monomer which multiplies and linked via peptide bond to generate protein chain .

A free amino acid have a carbonly group (- COOH ) and a -NH₂ group .

The formation of protein chain require at least two amino acids linked via peptide chain .

The role of peptide chain only comes in case of protein , because it acts as a linking species .

Hence , free amino acid does not have any peptide chain .
