The best way to find a summary is acting like your friend did not read, so you need to tell them what happened before the test begins.

with the example given above, the best summary would be the first ("The champion found a dragon..."(

Answer:

Hi! It seems to me that the correct summary of this section is <u>the first one: </u>

<em>"The champion found a dragon in the house, and saw a shield that said whoever slayed the dragon would get the shield. He lifted up his stick, hit the dragon in the head, and with a horrible shriek, the dragon died." </em>

Explanation:

I chose the first option because, although it is not the way I would write it, <u>it is the one that best creates the tone and accomplishes with a summary characteristics. </u>

<u>A summary</u> is not supposed to tell the story with all the details, it is supposed to tell the reader what the story is about. It <u>is supposed to tell the big picture, the theme of the story. </u>

The second option has many details, and I don't think it is the best way to create a summary. It tells more than it should. On the other hand, <em>the first one</em>, although it tells how the story ends and it definitely shouldn't, <em>tells the reader what the story is about without so many details.</em> That is why I chose the first option.

Music has sometimes been referred to as a “universal language.” Why has this description been applied to music? Do you agree or

First, I would like to state that I cannot answer all of this for you. These are questions that are asking for you to explain your own thoughts and opinions. Have fun with it and be honest! However, I will write my thoughts.

Music transcends verbal communication and impacts people on a personal and emotional level. Music is found in every place, time, and culture. There are even scientific explanations on how it affects the brain, making us produce "feel-good" hormones. Most people enjoy one type of music or another and can understand what different types of music are trying to communicate through the rhythm and beat. Put simply, music is a universal way of expressing one's self, just like an other art, such as painting or dancing.

Thepotemich [5.8K]

The use of the epic simile in the excerpt helps the reader understand how hot the spear actually is, as stated in the last option and explained below.

<h3>What is an epic simile?</h3>

First, we need to understand that a simile is a figure of speech that consists of comparing different things. Similes rely on the use of words such as "like" or "as." An epic simile is merely a long simile, that is, a simile that extends over many lines.

In the excerpt we are analyzing here, the epic simile helps the reader understand how hot the spear actually is. The lines contain the description of the making of the spear and how it made the eyeball hiss as it touched it.

With the information above in mind, we can choose the last option as the correct answer.

The missing excerpt is the following:

In a smithy one sees a white-hot axehead or an adze plunged and wrung in a cold tub, screeching steam– the way they make soft iron hale and hard—: just so that eyeball hissed around the spike.
