Georgia passed its first constitution in February of 1777. This constitution was implemented without the opinion of Georgia voters. However, the way this state constitution was structured would not last long. After only 12 years, Georgia revised its constitution to be more similar to the United States Constitution.
The first constitution of the state of Georgia was written in 1777. It was ratified in the city of Savannah while the Revolutionary War was being fought.
