It also upholds strict action against those who try to take away these rights. The main idea was of equal protection. This case remarkable in the USA’s Supreme Court history and ruled that racial segregation to be illegal and unconstitutional in public schools. This violated the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment. The case started in 1951 in which a Public school in Topeka refused the admission of the daughter of a black president named Oliver Brown to the school nearest to their home. Brown along with 120 local black residents filed a lawsuit in US federal court against the school. But the decision was against the Brown. The district court established that the doctrine of “separate but equal”. Then the brown decided to file a case in the US Supreme Court which agreed to hear the case and gave a remarkable judgment.
