When writing a letter, you want to address it properly. Put a "Dear," a date to start it. Then, when you're finished with your message, you want to put "Sincerely," or "Your Friend," or something along those lines.
With an online dictionary, you don't have to flick through a physical dictionary looking for the word you need-- you just have to type in what you want.
