Assume that at a price of $2.00 per pound, the annual supply of coffee beans in Country A is 8 million pounds, while the demand

is 10 million pounds. At a price of $3.00 per pound, the supply is 10.2 million pounds, and the demand is 8.6 million pounds. Assume that the price-supply and price-demand equations are linear. Write an equation for each (price on the y-axis) Find the equilibrium point (point of interception of the two linear equations) Discuss the significance of the equilibrium point in this case Graph the two equations in the same Cartesian system (upload)

Step 1: Assign variable for the unknown that we need to find.

Let <em>'p'</em> be the price/pound in dollars, <em>'s'</em> be the supply in millions of pounds, and <em>'d' </em>be the demand in millions of pounds.

Step 2: List the information from the  given statement.

Statement : Assume that at a price of $2.00 per pound, the annual supply of coffee beans in Country A is 8 million pounds, while the demand is 10 million pounds. At a price of $3.00 per pound, the supply is 10.2 million pounds, and the demand is 8.6 million pounds.

From the above statement we can list the two points for supply and demand function as below:

Two \; points \; representing \; price-supply \; function:\\\\(2, 8) \; \& \; (3, 10.2)\\\\Two \; points \; represent \; price-demand \; function:\\\\(2, 10) \; \& \; (3, 8.6)

Step 3: Use the Slope formula and Point-Slope form of an equation to write equation representing the price-supply function & price-demand function.

Slope \; Formula:\\\\m = \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}  \\\\Point-Slope \; Equation:\\\\y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

<u><em>Slope of Price-Supply function:</em></u>

(2, 8) \; \& \; (3, 10.2)\\\\m =  \frac{10.2-8}{3-2}  = \frac{2.2}{1} = 2.2

<em><u>Equation of Price-Supply function:</u></em>

s-8=2.2(p-2)\\Distributing \; 2.2 \; in \; the \; right \; side \; of \; equation\\\\s-8=2.2p-4.4\\Adding \; 8 \; on \; both \; sides\\\\s-8+8=2.2p-4.4+8\\Combining \; Like \; Terms\\\\s=2.2p+3.6

<u><em>Slope of Price-Demand function:</em></u>

(2, 10) \; \& \; (3, 8.6)

m = \frac{8.6-10}{3-2}= \frac{-1.4}{1}=-1.4

<em><u>Equation of Price-Demand function:</u></em>

d-10=-1.4(p-2)\\Distributing \; -1.4 \; on \; right \; side \; of \; the \; equation\\\\d-10=-1.4p+2.8\\Adding \; 10 \; on \; both \; sides\\\\d-10+10=-1.4p+2.8+10\\Combine \; Like \; Terms\\\\d=-1.4p+12.8

Step 4: Finding the equilibrium point

Equilibrium point is the point were the supply and demand function will be equal to each other.

Equilibrium \; occurs \; when \; s=p\\\\2.2p+3.6=-1.4p+12.8\\Adding \; 1.4p \; on \; both \; the \; sides\\\\2.2p+1.4p+3.6=-1.4p+12.8+1.4p\\Combining \; like \; terms\\\\3.6p+3.6=12.8\\Subtracting \; 3.6 \; on \; both \; sides\\\\3.6p=12.8-3.6\\3.6p=9.2\\Dividing \; 3.6 \; on \; both \; sides\\\\p=2.\bar{5}

Substituting the p value in any one of the function we get...

s=2.2p+3.6\\s=2.2(2.\bar{5})+3.6=9.\bar{2}

Conclusion:

The attached graph shows the equilibrium point, supply and demand function.

Solve the eqaution 6 - 6x =5x - 9x -2.
Dafna1 [17]
Simplifying
6 + -6x = 5x + -9x + -2

Reorder the terms:
6 + -6x = -2 + 5x + -9x

Combine like terms: 5x + -9x = -4x
6 + -6x = -2 + -4x

Solving
6 + -6x = -2 + -4x

Solving for variable 'x'.

Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '4x' to each side of the equation.
6 + -6x + 4x = -2 + -4x + 4x

Combine like terms: -6x + 4x = -2x
6 + -2x = -2 + -4x + 4x

Combine like terms: -4x + 4x = 0
6 + -2x = -2 + 0
6 + -2x = -2

Add '-6' to each side of the equation.
6 + -6 + -2x = -2 + -6

Combine like terms: 6 + -6 = 0
0 + -2x = -2 + -6
-2x = -2 + -6

Combine like terms: -2 + -6 = -8
-2x = -8

Divide each side by '-2'.
x = 4

Simplifying
x = 4

Five identical machines cover a total of 32 1/2 ft.² of floor space how much floor space occupied by each machine
Vika [28.1K]

Using proportions, it is found that the floor space occupied by each machine is of 6.5 ft².

<h3>What is a proportion?</h3>

A proportion is a fraction of a total amount, and the measures are related using a rule of three.

In this problem, five identical machines cover a total of 32 1/2 ft² = 32.5 ft², hence the space occupied by each machine is given as follows, applying the proportion:

32.5 ft²/5 = 6.5 ft².

timurjin [86]

Answer:

CBD = 82°

Step-by-step explanation:

From the chords relations in a circle, we have that when two chords intersects, we have the following angles:

CBF = DBE =  (1/2) * (arc(CF) + arc(DE))

CBD = FBE = (1/2) * (arc(CD) + arc(EF))

So, using the second equation to find the value of the angle CBD, we have that:

CBD = (1/2) * (100 + 64)

CBD = (1/2) * 164

CBD = 82°
