Answer:

Company a. 4.05

Company b. 4.49

Company c. 4.64

Company d. 30.60

From the above, Company d. has the strongest ability to pay interest expense as it comes due with 30 times.

Explanation:

Times interest earned = Income before interest and tax ÷ Interest expenses

Company a. Times interest earned = ($136,000 + $55,760 + $34,000) ÷ $55,760 = 4.05 times

Company b. Times interest earned = ($130,600 + $50,934 + $47,016) ÷ $50,934 = 4.49 times

Company c. Times interest earned = ($115,600 + $45,084 + $48,552) ÷ $45,084 = 4.64 times

Company d. Times interest earned = ($139,100 + $6,955 + $66,768) ÷ $6,955 = 30.60 times

From the above, Company d. has the strongest ability to pay interest expense as it comes due with 30 times.

tamaranim1 [39]

The business risk which is avoidable if there is proper precaution is letter A. Machine Breakdown. Comparing to other choices, if a machine is used with absolute care and it is well-maintained, then possible frequent breakdowns will be avoided. Unlike the obsolescence of fixed machinery; this means that some fixed assets are becoming outdated and can wear-out in due time which becomes a risk that is unavoidable. Natural calamities, on the other hand are inevitable because humans can predict some natural disasters, but cannot control the extent of damage caused by certain calamities to the business. Last but not the least, is the change in management. Despite the fact that each and everyone in the company is doing their job very well, still, those higher in authority may choose to retire or transfer to another company.

3. The last dividend paid by New Technologies was an annual dividend of $1.40 a share. Dividends for the next 3 years will be in
Nookie1986 [14]

Answer:

$12.60

Explanation:

The computation of the current value of the stock is shown below:-

= $1.40 × (1.08) ÷ 1.16 + 1.40 × (1.08)^2 ÷ (1.16)^2 + 1.40 × (1.08)^3 ÷ (1.16)^3 + 1.40 × (1.08)^3 × (1.03) ÷ (0.16 - 0.03) × (1.16)^3

= $1.3034 + $1.2136 + $1.1299 + $8.9520

= $12.60

Therefore for computing the current value of stock we simply solved the above equation.

The short-run price elasticity of demand will be inelastic and the short-run price elasticity of supply will be inelastic.

Elasticity of demand measures the relationship that exists between price and quantity demanded.

Elasticity of supply measures how quantity supplied changes when there is a change in the price of a good.

Types of elasticity.

 1. Elastic demand (supply): This means that demand (supply) is sensitive to price changes
 2. Inelastic demand (supply): this means that demand (supply) does not respond to price changes. The coefficient of elasticity is less than one.
 3. Unit elastic demand (supply): demand (supply) changes in equal proportion. The coefficient of elasticity is equal to one.

Factors that affect elasticity

 1. The number of substitutes the good has: the more substitutes the good has, the more elastic demand is.
 2. The length of time: demand (supply) is inelastic in the short run. In the short run, producers (consumers) do not have enough time to find suitable substitutes. In the long run, producers would have more time to search for suitable substitutes or shift to the production of other goods when compared with the short-run.
 3. Ease of entry or exit into an industry: the more easy it is for firms to enter into an industry, the more elastic supply would be.
