The sentences that take a plural subject are

Denise and Natalie play on the same basketball team.

It can be identified since this sentence is the only that has agreement with the verb.  The other three sentences do not have a plural subject because even some nouns or noun phrases are joined with and, they refer to a singular subject (America's largest city and cultural center) (Hammers and Nails) because the verb is in the singular
