It is TRUE that when you face listeners who are neutral toward your claim, you should ask why.

Listening demands a response that is active, not a passive one. Effective listening requires thoughts since it doesn’t just happen, and thinking can be a hard task. Nevertheless, becoming an active listener has no other way around except to be active.

What did Miguel Hidalgo do to help gain independence or establish the new country?

I believe the answer is: started the revolt which eventually became the war of independence

In the beginning, he came to Mexico to help the poor people in farming olives and grapes in order to improve their economy.
But the effort was banned by the Spanish Government since they want mexican people to grow other crops that suitable for their export business.
This caused people became enraged and started the war of independence led  by Miguel Hidalgo himself.
