Why are scientists warning that exclusively growing this mutant type by asexual reproduction presents a serious disadvantage?
Alla [95]

Answer:

Asexual reproduction can be described as a process in which daughter cells are produced which are 100% identical to the parent cells. Unlike the process of sexual reproduction, no recombination occurs in asexual reproduction. Hence, no variability is produced when organisms reproduce by this method.

As there will be lack of variability in asexual reproduction, the whole of the particular species might become endangered or extinct due to a disease or due to other factors like pests.

Question: Will weather changes (drought/flooding) over
Ronch [10]

Answer:

Changes in the environment affect the food sources available for birds. For example, if a flood was to occur, there would be an abundance of fish to birds to eat. So birds with bigger beaks will be able to eat fish, to live and reproduce offspring with bigger beaks. While birds with smaller beaks will not be able to catch fish to eat, therefore decreasing the population of birds with smaller beaks.
