I am doing with Question Number 2

Let the two numbers be 'x' and 'y'.

According to the question, the product of two numbers is 14.

x \times y=14

So, xy=14 (Equation 1)

Now, one of the numbers is 3 ½ times the other.

So, x = 3\frac{1}{2}\times y

x=\frac{7}{2}y (Equation 2)

Substituting the value of 'x' from equation 2 in equation 1, we get

\frac{7}{2}y \times y = 14

\frac{7}{2}y^{2} = 14

y^{2} = 4

So, y= 2 and -2

So, x=\frac{14}{2} and x=\frac{14}{-2}

x=7 and -7

Numbers are 2,7 and -2,-7.

Sum of numbers 2 and 7 = 9

Sum of numbers -2 and -7 = -9.

The perimeter of a rectangle is 96 feet. Three times the width is 8 less than the length. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.
Roman55 [17]
Width= w
length= (3w-8)

2w+2(3w-8)= 96
2w + 6w -16= 96
8w= 112
8w/8= 112/8
w= 14

width= 14 feet
length= 34 feet

so the dimensions are 14x34 feet

Imagine two lines intersect. How can the properties of linear pairs and vertical angles help to determine the angle measures cre
Art [367]
<span>Vertical angles are opposite angles that share only a vertex.
When two lines intersect, we have two sets of vertical angles.

Linear pairs are two angles that form a straight line; when two lines intersect, we have two linear pairs.

If we know one of the angles formed when two lines intersect, we know that the angle opposite it, the vertical angle, has the same measure.
We also know that the angle beside it, that forms a linear pair, will be supplementary with it (add to 180); this means we can find its measure by subtracting from 180.
The remaining missing angle will be the same as this supplementary angle, since they are vertical angles</span>
