This is false. In 1851 it was only banned in Maine. Banning alcohol was not an issue at that time because people were more focused on slavery and the civil war. The actual wins of the temperance movement came later when they managed to pass prohibition laws and constitutionally outlaw alcohol.
U.s government didnt kill people but just as bad they let children starve to dead because people unemployed couldn't pay back loans or get job because everything closing down.
They were less technologically advanced and therefor seen as inferior to the settlers.
