Based on the following excerpt, in what ways does the whale serve as a contextual symbol for humanity in Herman Melville’s Moby-
AURORKA [14]

Because the whale is so evasive, it becomes a symbol of humanity's struggle with discovering the meaning of life.

Answer: Option C.

Explanation:

Melville represents Moby Di and his whiteness as a symbol of many things. Some of things represented by it and the whiteness were nature, evil, fate, the universe itself and God.

The symbolism of the white whale is deliberately enigmatic and it's inscrutability. It is difficult and is presented as a challenge to the readers of the story.

QUESTION 1
nekit [7.7K]

The question is related to an article on why people pay ridiculous money for strange celebrity memorabilia.

In the article, we find that investment firms specialize in monetizing celebrity relics or collectibles. Some of them specialize in certain celebrities depending on the strength of the brand of such a celebrity.

So the interesting point and the center of the article revolves around why people would buy not just any collectible, but items that have absolutely no value which may in certain instances be laughable had the items belonged to someone else.

For example, it is said that a broken toilet belonging to John Lennon was sold for $16,027, Two slices of French toast, half-eaten by Justin Timberlake was sold for $1,025, and John F. Kennedy's used pair of boxer shorts was auctioned away for $5, 000.

It is obvious that these items hold very little if any value at all. If the celebrities themselves were to raise funds for charity, they most likely would have used other artifacts.

Hence, the most logical conclusion is that these items are purchased not because they are valuable, certainly, that would make sense, but for some sentimental connection to the celebrity who used them.
