The mood of the poem is melancholy and reminiscing of a the past. The ways the authors talk about the great aspects of the childhood he is reflecting that he missed childhood very much giving us a feeling of reminiscing. as he continue to explain the forced maturation it seems as if he is sad and thus giving us a mood of melancholy.

I think A is your best answer, and I cannot think of any kind of alternative from the other 3 that are satisfactory. The problem is that there is compensation for having little time but being able to think: the time spent contemplating will show up in conversation.
