Answer:

Cell membrane or plasma membrane is the semi-permeable outer layer surrounding the components of the cell.

It is important to the cell as it provides important properties to the cell as it separates the aqueous interior of the cell from the external environment, helps in cell–cell contact, in surface recognition, signaling and transport.

The plasma membrane is made up of different types of molecules like phospholipids, proteins, cholesterol, carbohydrates providing flexibility to the layer so, the model of membrane is known as fluid mosaic model.

The primary constituent of membrane is a lipid molecule called Phospholipids which is made up of glycerol molecules attached to a phosphate group and forms a hydrophilic head while long fatty acyl chains attached to the head froms hydrophobic tails.

It is the fatty acid chains which provide hydrophobic nature to the cell membrane. These layers are arranged in the form of bilayer with head towards outside while tails inside.

Along with phospholipid membrane posses peripheral and integral proteins which helps in transport of the molecules across membrane.

Compare the structures of arabinoxylan and amylopectin. [5 marks]
Galina-37 [17]

Answer:

Marta S. Izydorczyk, in Handbook of Hydrocolloids (Third Edition), 2021

13.7.3.6 Arabinoxylans in cosmetics

Arabinoxylan derivatives, such as cation arabinoxylans and their hydrophobically modified products, are potentially useful ingredients in cosmetic and personal care products (Yang, Wuxi, & Cui, 2017). Water-soluble cationic arabinoxylans exhibit hair conditioning properties, and arabinoxylans with low-molecular-weight and high charge density can be absorbed on the hair surface. Cationic polymers are commonly used in hair conditioners as the electrostatic interactions between the positively charged cationic polymer and anionic hair surface lead to the absorption of the conditioner on the hair surface, thus making the hair soft and smooth (Fig. 13.18). Properties such as diverse structure, biocompatibility, nontoxicity, and low production costs make arabinoxylans promising candidates for these uses (US patent 2019).

The specifications for a product you are developing require that the cross-section area cannot be greater than 12 in2. You have
Temka [501]

Answer:

=IF(B3*C3<=12, "Yes", "No")

Explanation:

Image for the question is attached here

Complete question

The specifications for a product you are developing require that the cross-section area cannot be greater than 12 in2. You have summarized the dimensions of 5 prototypes you have made. Column D has an equation to determine if your product meets specifications. It indicates that only specimen #5 meets the specifications.

What is the equation in cell D3?

Solution

As we can see in the table,

For all those tests in which the product of corresponding cell values in column B and C under the heads vertical and horizontal dimension respectively is less than 12 square inch the column D values is "No". That is it does not meet the specification. Here specification is "cross-section area cannot be greater than 12 in2"

Here IF function is used for conditional formatting.

Thus, the formula in the cell must be

=IF(B3*C3<=12, "Yes", "No")
