Answer:

a) Water height, H(g) = 8g^2 + 3g -4 - [9g^2 -2g -5] = 8g^2 + 3g -4 -9g^2 + 2g +5 = -g^2 +5g +1

b) g = 1

H(g) = -(1)^2 + 5(1) + 1 = -1 + 5 + 1 = 5

g=2

H(g) = -(2)^2 + 5(2) + 1 = -4 + 10 + 1 = 7

g=3

H(g) = -(3)^2 + 5(3) + 1 = -9 +15 +1 = 5

c) Greatest height

Find the vertex of the parabole

The vertex is at the mid point between the two roots.

To find the roots you can use the quadratic equation

The result is g = 5/2 + [√29]/2 and g = 5/2 - [√29]/2

The middle poin is 5/2 = 2.5

Now find H(2.5) = -(2.5)^2 + 5(2.5) + 1 = 7.5 ≈ 7.3

hope this helps

Answer:

y= -x^2+5

Step-by-step explanation:

It normally expontionally goes up, so across the x axis is down so it is negative, and is is all scales up, so the start is 5 up from the origin on the y axis, so it would be y=-x+5

Hope this helped!

A square pyramid. The square base has side lengths of 6 inches. The 4 triangular sides have a base of 6 inches and height of 9 i
Marrrta [24]

Answer:

The area of the pyramid’s base is 36 in².

The pyramid has 4 lateral faces.

The surface area of each lateral face is 27 in².

Step-by-step explanation:

"<u>Lateral</u>" means side, so the lateral faces are <u>triangles</u>.

The <u>base</u> is the bottom, which is a <u>square</u>.

To calculate the <u>area of the base</u>, use the formula for area of a square.

A_{base} = s^{2}

A_{base} = (6 in)^{2}

A_{base} = 36 in^{2}

To calculate the <u>area of a lateral face</u>, find the area of a triangle.

A_{lateral} = \frac{bh}{2}

A_{lateral} = \frac{(6 in)(9 in)}{2}

A_{lateral} = \frac{54 in^{2}}{2}

A_{lateral} = 27 in^{2}

In a pyramid, the number of lateral faces is the same as the number of sides in the base. <u>The square base as 4 sides, so there are 4 lateral faces</u>.

Find the measure of each angle indicated. Show work.
kirza4 [7]

Answer:

? = 109 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

45 + 75 + _ = 180  ( look for vertical angles)

45 + 75 + 60 = 180

60 +79 + _ = 180 (look for a straight line that forms 180 degrees)

60 + 79 + 41 = 180

68 + 41 + _ = 180 (look for a triangle that adds up to 180)

68 + 41 + 71 =180

180 - 71 = 109 (look for a linear pair)
