Given 2 numbers, a and b. The number exactly in the middle of a and b is \displaystyle{ \frac{a+b}{2}}.

For example, the number exactly in the middle of numbers 5 and 17 is (5+17)/2=22/2=11.

Check: 11-5=6, 17-11=6

The number in the middle of 24 and 92 is (92+24)/2=116/2=58.

The positive difference between 58 and both 24 and 92 is :

58-24 = 34     &    92-58 = 34

Thus the height of a woman x, can vary at most 34, from 58. That is the height of a woman can be 34 ft less or more than 58.

In absolute value notation this is expressed as :

|x-58|≤34

what this means is that

         x-58≤34                  or                58-x≤34

so     x≤58+34                 or                    -x≤34-58

             x≤92                   or                    -x≤-24, that is x≥24

Answer:      |x-58|≤34 ;   24≤x≤92

Plz help Large cheese pizzas cost $5 each and large one-topping pizzas cost $6 each write an equation that represents the total
Komok [63]

Answer:

T = 5c +5d,    where unit of the equation is $.

Step-by-step explanation:

Cost of 1 large cheese  pizza = $5

No. of large cheese pizza = c

therefore

cost of c  large cheese pizza = c*Cost of 1 large cheese  pizza = $5c

Cost of 1 large one topping  pizza = $6

No. of large one topping pizza = d

therefore

cost of d  large one topping pizza = d*Cost of 1 large one topping  pizza =             cost of d  large one topping pizza = $6d

Total cost of  c  large cheese pizza and cost of d  large one topping pizza

= $5c +$6d

total cost is represented by T

thus, T = $5c +$5d  Answer

Four students are running for class president: liz, sam, sue, and tom. the probabilities of sam, sue, and tom winning are 7⁄25 ,
Natali5045456 [20]
First, we need to convert all the fractions to have the same denominator. 10 and 25 are both multiples of 100, so 100 would be appropriate.

Sam has a 7/25 chance. Because we want ?/100, something needs to change. To get from 25 to 100, you need to times 25 by 4, right? So, do the same with the 7.
7 x 4 = 28. Therefore Sam has a 28/100 chance.

Sue has 3/10. Using the same method, we can see that 3 needs to be multiplied by 10 (because 10 times 10 = 100). So Sue has a 30/100 chance.

Tom is already in the fraction we like, so just keep this as 21/100.

Now, add 28/100, 30/100 and 21/100 to get 79/100.

Because won of them will get the role of class president, we know that the probability adds to 1. To get a full probability (100/100, or 1), what needs to be added to 79/100?

Another way of going about this is 100/100-79/100. The answer is 21/100

The probability of Liz winning is 21/100.

Let me know if this is still unclear, I would be more than happy to explain in more detail if necessary :)
