This speech presented Reagan as a great communicator and true influencer. He peacefully tested Gorbachev into thinking about tearing down the Berlin Wall. However, the speech was virtually unknown to the German people, however the Americans were very aware and inspired by the speech, without knowing many on the ground facts about Eastern and Western Germany.
