Answer:

B) shallow root systems

Explanation:

Google says: "The leaves of forest trees have adapted to cope with exceptionally high rainfall. Many tropical rainforest leaves have a drip tip. It is thought that these drip tips enable rain drops to run off quickly. Plants need to shed water to avoid growth of fungus and bacteria in the warm, wet tropical rainforest."

This means that the ground where the tree's roots are is very wet, and the roots need water to help the tree grow, so the roots will adapt to grow higher to where the wet ground is, therefore stating that option B) shallow root systems  is the correct choice.

Answer:

The tropical rainforest refers to the region that lies in the tropical regions of both the hemispheres. This region is rich in thick and diverse species of plants and trees as the area receives a significantly high amount of rainfall throughout the year.

Due to the excessive amount of rainfall, there are lesser amount of essential soil nutrients. As it rains, the water washes away the valuable minerals that are required for the extension and development of plants.

The barks of these trees are usually smooth and their leaves have drip tips due to which the rainwater is quickly allowed to fall on the soil surface and rapidly erode the soil particles. The roots of the trees in this region are usually short as they do not get the required amount of mineral nutrients.

So, the tropical trees are usually poor in soil nutrients.

Intermittent reinforcement

Explanation:

Intermittent reinforcement refers to the part of the conditioning schedule where reward or reinforcement is not presented or delivered at every desired response. This conditioning schedule can be implemented due to different reasons but some of them can be that the desired response is a response leading to another desired outcome and the reward or reinforcement will be presented after getting and completion of the desired outcome in the following step. There can be other reasons as well based on the schedule prepared but the situation where reward or reinforcement is not presented or delivered at every desired response is called Intermittent reinforcement.
