You are at the whim of the political leader, owner, and benefactors.
Bad food, lived in cramped conditions.  Can't make friends with anyone, because you might be fighting them the next day.

Other thoughts to ponder.
Women want your sweat.  Seen and glorified as a demi -  god.   (Similar to an athlete today.)  Might become free, if you live long enough.

Gladiator is a great movie to watch.  Rated R?
Or watch bad acting movie Spartacus.    PG13?

Lady bird [3.3K]

'A corruption scheme in which several bidders conspire to split contracts, thereby ensuring that each gets a certain amount of work, is known as Bid pooling.

Bid pooling coordination is a fraudulent procurement auction method that results in uncompetitive bids and can be conducted by corrupt officials, companies in organized collusion, or between officials and companies. This form of collusion is illegal in most countries. This is a form of pricing and market sharing that often occurs when contracts are determined by tender, such as government construction contracts.

The typical purpose of a bid adjustment is to allow the "winner" to win the order at a non-competitive price. Other parties are compensated in various ways. By cash payment, or by agreement to be named the "winning" bidder in another contract, or to award a portion of the winning bidder's contract to them.

The Vietnam War was a violent battle that lasted for many years and had the controversial participation of the USA. In this conflict, the USA used state-of-the-art equipment and has more weapons to use and guarantee victory in the war. However, the Vietnamese army, even at a disadvantage in terms of armaments and technology, came out victorious because they had the advantage of the region's climate and topography.

Vietnam had a topography with little linearity and extensive vegetation, which allowed the Vietnamese to use their knowledge about the place and hide various traps that were not located by American equipment and caused American soldiers to be captured.
