Hyposulfite, SO22–, is a polyatomic ion that has not yet been definitively confirmed to exist. However, the VSEPR model may stil

l be applied to yield a prediction on its molecular geometry. What is the most reasonable estimate for the O–S–O bond angle in hyposulfite?

Answer:

The most reasonable estimate for the O–S–O bond angle in hyposulfite = 106°

Explanation:

Hyposulphite (so₂²⁻) is polyatomic ion .

According to VSEPR model

Total elrctron pairs =\frac{1}{2} [V+X -C+A]

V = Valence shell electrons of central element

X = No. of monovalent surrounding atoms

C = Cationic charge

A = Anionic charge

Total electron pairs =\frac{1}{2}[6+0-0+2]= 4

That is two bond pairs and two lone pairs

How much sodium bicarbonate to raise alkalinity in pool.
almond37 [142]

Answer:

A rule of thumb is that 1.5 lbs. of baking soda per 10,000 gallons of water will raise alkalinity by about 10 ppm. If your pool's pH is tested below 7.2, add 3-4 pounds of baking soda. If you're new to adding pool chemicals, start by adding only one-half or three-fourths of the recommended amount.

How many atoms are present in 4.0 mol of sodium
gladu [14]
Avogadro's constant is the number of atoms of carbon-12 in 12g of
carbon-12.
atoms present equals avogadro's constant times number of moles for that substance. Type of substance does not change the number of atoms if you are given the quantity of moles, therefore the fact that it is sodium does not change the value.
atoms present equals avogadro's constant times number of moles
=6.023x10^23 x 4.0
=2.4x10^24

Suppose that you have a 60.0% solution of NaOH. How many milliliters of water must be added to 30.0 mL of this solution to prepa
defon

Answer:

 • 21.4 ml (second choice)

Explanation:

1) Data:

a) C₁ = 60.0% (initial solution)

b) V₁ = 30.0 ml (initial solution)

c) C₂ = 0% (pure water)

d) V₂ = ? (pure water)

e) C₃ = 35.0% (final concentration)

2) Formula:

 • C₁V₁ + C₂V₂ = C₃V₃
 • V₁ + V₂ = V₃ (assuming volume addtivity)

3) Solution:

a) Substitute values in the first formula:

 • 60.0% × 30 ml + 0 = 35% (30 ml + V₂)

b) Solve the equation (units are supressed just to manipulate the terms)

 • 18 = 10.5 + 0.35V₂

 • 0.35V₂ = 18 - 10.5 = 7.5

 • V₂ = 7.5 / 0.35 = 21.4 ml ← answer
