The caste system separated people in different classes from high to low. The higher class would treat the lower class as if they were nothing. This prevents society from growing because it made the higher class feel good about themselves while the lower felt like nothing.
An atrocity that the Germans were accused of was the civilian massacres that occurred in Belgium and Northern France in the year 1914. From August 4th to the 8th almost 850 people had been killed. Most of the people killed were military-aged young men but, there were also many women, children, and elderly that were killed in the massacre.

The Islands of Japan are so narrow that no point in the country lies more than 150 km (93 miles) from sea waters.
To the West, there is the sea of Japan, which separates Japan from the Asian mainland. To the north, lies the sea of Okhotsk, and to the south is the East China sea. All these are extensions of the Pacific ocean which lies to the east of Japan. To the far south-east lies the Philippine sea.
