2x^2-8x-24=0
Divide the whole equation by 2.
x^2-4x-12=0
Complete the square
x^2-4x+4-16=0
(x-2)^2 -16=0
(x-2)^2=16
Take the square root of each side.
(x-2)=4 and (-(x-2))=4
x=6 and x=-2

An easy formula to use for this is -b+-√b^2-4(a×c)] /2(a) . This gave me ;

8+-√-8^2-4(2(-24)) /2(2)

8+-√64-4(-48)/4

8+-√64+192]/4

8+-√256]/4

8+-16/4

8+16=24/4=6

8-16=-8/4=-2

X=6&-2

Researchers conducted a study to determine whether the majority of community college students plan to vote in the next president
My name is Ann [436]

Answer:

Null Hypothesis, H_0 : p = 0.50

Alternate Hypothesis, H_A : p > 0.50

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that Researchers conducted a study to determine whether the majority of community college students plan to vote in the next presidential election.

They surveyed 650 randomly selected community college students and found that 55% of them plan to vote.

Let p = proportion of community college students who plan to vote in the next presidential election

So, Null Hypothesis, H_0 : p = 0.50

Alternate Hypothesis, H_A : p > 0.50

Here, null hypothesis states that the proportion of community college students who plan to vote in the next presidential election is equal to 50% or 0.50.

On the other hand, alternate hypothesis states that the proportion of community college students who plan to vote in the next presidential election is greater than 50% or 0.50 which means there is majority.

Also, the test statistics that would be used here is One-sample z proportion statistics;

                       T.S.  =  \frac{\hat p-p}{\sqrt{\frac{\hat p(1-\hat p)}{n} } }  ~ N(0,1)

where, \hat p = sample proportion of community college students who plan to vote in the next presidential election in a sample of 650 selected = 55%

            n = sample of students = 650

Therefore, the above hypothesis would be correct for testing.

A number is multiplied by 2. Then that product is multiplied by 5. Write to explain how you know what digit is in the ones place
Kazeer [188]
When you multiply a number by 5 and then by 2 it is the same as multiplying by 10. multiplying by 10 means you add a zero to the end of the number so the digit in the ones column will be always be zero
