Father Miguel Hidalgo was a Catholic priest. He was an ardent supporter of Mexican independence from Spain and he´s today honored as a Mexican hero, the father of Mexican independence. On September 16, 1810, he issued the Grito de Dolores (Cry of Dolores) , calling for independence from Spain, racial equality and land redistribution.  He led a revolt that failed, was caught and executed on July 30, 1811.

I would know about John Marshall. He was a federalist supreme court chief justice. He gave more power to the government by taking a loose construction of the Constitution. So basically he said, "If it doesnt say we (Fed Gov't) cant do it, then we can)".
