If the road is nearly empty, there wouldn’t be any traffic at all so I would say when the road is full of cars there is more racket :)

Which of the following is a correct parenthetical citation for a book with one author? (Silas Marner 75) (Silas Marner, 75) (Geo
tester [92]
(Eliot 75)

When it comes to parenthetical citations, I am going to assume that you are using MLA guidelines. If so, it is only necessary to cite the author's last name, followed by the page number, with no parentheses between them. The last choice is the only one that just gives the last name, so it is correct.

Match the definition to the word. 1. the "feeling" or emotional aura that pervades a story or a poem crisis 2. a critical moment
poizon [28]

1. the "feeling" or emotional aura that pervades a story or a poem - atmosphere

The atmosphere is the air you breathe, the invisible stuff that surrounds. An atmosphere of a story or poem helps to communicate the theme or author's attitude towards the subject.

2. a critical moment in a story at which the protagonist is forced to take decisive action - Crisis

Critical = crisis. They are from the root word crit which means to separate or choose. During a crisis, the protagonist is forced to make a difficult choice. This usually results in some type of internal conflict for the protagonist, creates a learning experience which makes the character dynamic, and often is the climax of the story.

3. the time and place in which the story occurs - setting

The setting is where the story is set. Time and place. Sometimes it helps to think of a movie set. On a movie set, the director is creating the specific place and time in which the story takes place.

What do the advertisers want the audience to do?
kow [346]
What's the context? Like have you been given a piece of work to analyse? I can give basic generic answers:

•The advertiser's want the audience to be engaged and interested in the advertisement

•The images appeal to the audience because it allows them to view the product instead of being described as to what it looks like. Also depending on the quality of the photograph it could allow and influence the audience's opinion on said product

•The setting/background of the background appeals to the audience as it can be used to divert the audience's eyes and influence what they look at. For example if the background is very bright and colourful and busy then their eyes will naturally gravitate there. However if the background is plain white or black then the eyes will gravitate to whatever is going on in the foreground. Many company's such as apple use this approach.

•Colour and font are used to draw interest to the advertisement and make it more memorable to the audience as bright colours and funky fonts will stick in someone's mind. This is why when making notes for things like exams people are encouraged to highlight and write in different colours as colours help the brain to remember something much more than opposed to black and white.

•Persuasive techniques that could've been used:
-emotive language
-direct address(using the word "you" e.g. YOU could buy this burger)
-exaggeration
-rhetorical questions
-chatty style / speaking to the audience in a friendly way
-anecdote(stories used to illustrate a point)
-repetition
-statistics(8 in 10 women would recommend)
