How would you solve this? All I know is AD=24.4948
Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

8

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's call the center of the middle circle J, and the center of the third circle K.

Draw a line from J to the line AD such that the line is perpendicular to AD.

This forms a right triangle that is similar to the triangle ΔADK.

Writing and solving a proportion:

x / DK = AJ / AK

x / 5 = 15 / 25

x = 3

Now, draw lines from J to B and C.  We now form two congruent right triangles, where the hypotenuse is 5 and the shared leg is 3.

That means these are both 3-4-5 triangles.

Therefore, BC = 4 + 4 = 8.

How do you solve 7/12 ÷ 2 5/8
Darya [45]
First off, we'd convert the mixed fraction to "improper" and then proceed,

\bf \stackrel{mixed}{2\frac{5}{8}}\implies \cfrac{2\cdot 8+5}{8}\implies \stackrel{improper}{\cfrac{21}{8}}\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\
\cfrac{7}{12}\div \cfrac{21}{8}\implies \cfrac{7}{12}\cdot \cfrac{8}{21}\implies \cfrac{\underline{7}}{3\cdot \underline{4}}\cdot \cfrac{2\cdot \underline{4}}{3\cdot \underline{7}}\implies \cfrac{2}{9}
