Which of the following does NOT describe John Calvin's conception of Predestination?
mrs_skeptik [129]

Answer:

E. election can be gained through good works.

Explanation:

John Calvin born on the 10th of July, 1509 was a French pastor, reformer and theologian during the times of protestant reformation in Geneva, Switzerland.

John Calvin was a calvinist because he preached a doctrine that was later known as calvinism.

In his work titled "Institutes of the Christian Religion." he stated that, all human beings are wicked and weak; thus, no matter what, only those who were predestined would be privileged to go to heaven.

Basically, the doctrine of calvinism known as predestination emphasizes that, God has chosen or selected some people to be destroyed eternally and others to be saved (go to heaven). Also, those people who have been predestined for eternal destruction cannot be saved even by their good works.

Hence, the statement which best describes John Calvin's conception of Predestination are;

I. Faith is a gift from God, freely given and not something that can be earned .

II. The choices one makes in life do not improve one’s chances of entering

heaven .

III. An individual’s actions accord with God’s will .

IV. The elect are chosen by God.

The Council of Trent were several gatherings that took place between 1545 and 1563 and involved the Catholic church main representatives and those from European nations that had stood under its influence. Its principal result was the start of the Counter Reformation against Luther's Reformation and against the emergence of protestantism.

From the point of view of the faith, the council defined the teachings of the supporters of protestantism as heresies, and issued certain clarifications to the doctrines of the Catholic church.

According to these refugees, what role did drought play in causing the famine?
ZanzabumX [31]

Explanation:

When drought occurs in such arid areas, the living conditions of local people become very difficult. In these conditions, the land yields no crops and water is insufficient for human consumption as well. People compete for the meager available resources. Pastoral communities are an example of this.
