Select the graph of the solution set that would represent the following expression. | x | > 5

Mathematics
1 answer:
ZanzabumX [31]4 years ago

Answer:

It would be the first graph because |x| >5 is solved in two cases

The first case you keep everything the same, just get rid of the absolute value bars

x>5

The second case, you need to switch the sign and make the 5 negative

x<-5

When graphing you want to put an open circle on -5, and 5 because when it is < or > you have an open circle,

You then point the arrows going which ever way your sign is going, this is why the -5 is going to the left because the < sign is pointing left, and same with the 5, the arrow is going right because the > sign is pointing right

Hope this helps ;)

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS QUESTION!!!!!!
mr Goodwill [35]

From the table, y varies directly as x. Therefore,  the constant of variation is k = 2 and y = 2x.

<h3>How to find a direct variation?</h3>

For direct variation,

y ∝ x

Therefore,

y = kx

where

  • k = constant of proportionality

Hence,

(-2, -4)

-4 = -2k

k = -4 / -2

k = 2

(-4, -8)

y = -4(2) = -8

Therefore,

k = 2 and y = 2x

Application of geometric and arithmetic sequence and series in real life. Please show your solution.
Mariana [72]

Answer:

the amount on your savings account ;

the amount of money in your piggy bank if you deposit the same amount each week (a bank account with regular deposits leads you to arithmetico-geometric sequences) ;

the size of a population in exponential growth, e.g. bacteria in a Petri dish (or in your leftovers if you find Petri dishes not "every day life" enough) ;

the intensity of radioactivity after n years of a given radioactive material (with application to determining the age of mommies!).

Which of the following is a third root of the given complex number.
Leokris [45]

Answer:

The correct option is C.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given complex number is

z=64(\cos[\frac{\pi}{7}]-i\sin[\frac{\pi}{7}])

We need to find the third root of the given complex number.

z^{\frac{1}{3}}=(64(\cos[\frac{\pi}{7}]-i\sin[\frac{\pi}{7}]))^{\frac{1}{3}}

z^{\frac{1}{3}}=64^{\frac{1}{3}}(\cos[\frac{\pi}{7}]-i\sin[\frac{\pi}{7}])^{\frac{1}{3}}

z^{\frac{1}{3}}=4(\cos[\frac{\pi}{7}]-i\sin[\frac{\pi}{7}])^{\frac{1}{3}}

De moivre's theorem:

(\cos\theta+i\sin\theta)^n=\cos n\theta+i\sin n\theta

where, n is an integer.

Using de moivre's theorem, we get

z^{\frac{1}{3}}=4(\cos[\frac{\pi}{7}\times \frac{1}{3}]-i\sin[\frac{\pi}{7}\times \frac{1}{3}])

z^{\frac{1}{3}}=4(\cos[\frac{\pi}{21}]-i\sin[\frac{\pi}{21}])

Therefore the correct option is C.
