The key word here that you see is "about". Which means it is close but not exact. So when his teacher said that a liter is about .473 and his parents said it was "about" .5, you were rounding or estimating. .473, rounded to the nearest tenths is .5. Because "73" in .473 is closer to .5 or .500 than it is to .4 or .400.

One pint is equivalent to 0.473 liters which is approximately 0.47 liters if rounding off nearest to hundredth decimal places and 0.5 liters if rounding off nearest to tenth places.

Further explanation:

Jules reads that one pint is equivalent to 0.473 liters.

\boxed{1\,\,{\text{Pint}}=0.473\,\,{\text{liters}}}

But according to his teacher, one pint is about 0.47 liters.

\boxed{1\,\,{\text{Pint}}\approx0.47\,\,{\text{liters}}}

His teacher gives the Pint value accurate to two decimals places.

In other words, his teacher round off the value of one pint in liters nearest to hundredth places.

Also according to his parents, one pint is about 0.5 liters.

\boxed{1\,\,{\text{Pint}}\approx0.5\,\,{\text{liters}}}

His parents give the one pint value accurate to one decimal place.

In other words, his parents round off the value of one pint in liters nearest to tenth place.

Therefore, his parents and teachers are both right approximately.

Thus, one pint is equivalent to 0.473 liters which is approximately 0.47 liters if rounding off nearest to hundredth decimal places and 0.5 liters if rounding off nearest to tenth places.

Gnoma [55]

Answer:

\frac{x^{2}  + 19x - 56}{4 {x}^{2}   - 32x}

Step-by-step explanation:

Start by making the denominators of both fraction the same. This can be done by multiplying one fraction's denominator by the other.

After simplifying and combining the two fractions together, check if the numerator can be factorised such that there is a common factor in the denominator and numerator. In this case, the numerator cannot be factorised.

Lastly, expand the denominator.

\frac{x + 7}{4x}  +  \frac{5}{x - 8}

=  \frac{(x + 7)(x - 8)}{4x(x - 8)}  +  \frac{5(4x)}{4x(x - 8)}

=  \frac{x(x) + x( - 8) + 7(x) + 7( - 8) + 20x}{4x(x - 8)}

=  \frac{ {x}^{2} - 8x + 7x - 56 + 20x }{4x(x - 8)}

=  \frac{ {x}^{2}  + 19x - 56}{4x(x - 8)}

=  \frac{ {x}^{2}  + 19x - 56}{4 {x}^{2}  -  32x}

What is the value of m in the equation 1/2m-3/4n when n = 8?
kirill [66]

Answer:

-\frac{1}{32}

Step-by-step explanation:

n = 8\\1/2(8) - 3/4(8) = 1/16-3/32

Multiply the numerator and denomiator of 1/16 by 2 so that the denominators are equal and we can subtract.

\frac{1}{16} *\frac{2}{2} =\frac{2}{32}

Then, subtract

\frac{2}{32} -\frac{3}{32} = \frac{2-3}{32} =- \frac{1}{32}
