For this case we use the question "how many" to refer to things that we can count numerically.

For example, we can say:

How many oranges are there?

How many numbers are between 1 and 10?

How many people are in the car?

We must differentiate this question from "how much". This last question we must use it for amounts that we can not count exactly.

For example, we can say:

How much orange juice is in the jar?

How much flour is placed in the food?

Solve the system of equations
Brums [2.3K]
5x+4y = 73
-4x + 4y = -8

5x + 4y -(-4x+4y) = 73 -(-8)
5x + 4y + 4x - 4y = 81
5x + 4x + 4y - 4y = 81
9x = 81
x = 81÷9
x = 9

Substitute x = 9 into any of the equations to find y.

5(9) + 4y = 73
45 + 4y = 73
4y = 73 - 45
4y = 28
y = 28÷4
y=7

Answers :
x = 9
y = 7

Jessica and Raphael are saving money for concert tickets. Jessica has $20 and saves 10 per week.
Burka [1]
They have the same amount on week 5 ($70)
The Answer would be: $70
((Got this correct on my quiz, If you need it explained, It is below))
The easiest way to do this is to not pay attention to the y=x equation, because the solution is already in the information, this may confuse you and youre wasting time to solve it. Jess has $20 BEFORE saving and gets $10 WEEKLY, Raph has $40 BEFORE saving and gets $6 WEEKLY. In the chart/information, add the amount it takes to get Jess up to $40 then add $10 for every week on going until both their balances are equal. They match on the 5th week with $70 // If the information is different substitute the names/numbers/etc. Hope this helped you and anyone else looking for the answer!
