Gustav Klimt used red, black and yellow quite often, which gave these paintings a rather Byzantine look. These colors were used in ancient Greece a lot, because that was what was available to them, and the Byzantine Empire was the eastern half of Greece that remained after it fell. of Pope Julius II. Among the frescoes that he painted on the ceiling included
nine stories from the Book of Genesis, the emergence of Adam and Eve in the
Garden of Eden, the Great Flood and Last Judgment.
