Answer:

The Battle of Yorktown was a siege between September 28 and October 19, 1781, between the American-French and the British during the American War of Independence. The siege ended with the surrender of the British forces.

The siege of Yorktown was the culmination of the War of Independence and the victory of the Americans led to the independence of the United States. The Americans captured General Charles Cornwallis and more than 7,000 soldiers.

During this battle, the French fleet was blockading the port of Yorktown preventing any supply of the British by sea, while a combined French-American army encircled the city and attacked the British.
