It has been estimated that 99% of the intestinal bacteria are A. facultative anaerobes.B. obligate aerobes.C. facultative aerobe
Klio2033 [76]

Answer:

Obligate anaerobes. (Ans. D)

Explanation:

Anaerobes: They are micro-organisms that do not require energy oxygen for metabolism. They can only survive in an environment that lacks oxygen.

Obligate anaerobes are bacteria typically living in various places naturally. Many of obligate anaerobes living in the human body, in places such as the mouth and gastrointestinal tract (most of the obligate anaerobes present their) where oxygen level present in very low concentration.

Obligate anaerobes do not contain several enzymes needed to detoxifying oxygen present in the cell. Oxygen produces several byproducts in the presence of water such as hydrogen peroxide, it is a week acid and affects no. of enzymes present in anaerobic cells. In a high level of oxygen anaerobic cells become more acidic and not able to function.

So that's why they are found in no oxygen or low oxygen environment like the gastrointestinal tract.

9. Write an mRNA strand that is complementary to the DNA strand AATTGC. Circle a codon.
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

UUAACG

Explanation:

The complementary strand of the DNA strand AATTGC would be UUAACG.

The complementary nucleotide for Guanine [G] will be Cytosine [C] and applies to both DNA and RNA. But the complementary nucleotide for Adenine [A] will be Thymine [T] in DNA and Uracil [U] in RNA.

A codon is a triplet of nucleotides, so it could be any three nucleotides in the strand. Example: AAT, ATT, TTG or TGC.

Edward Jenner’s smallpox inoculation experiment was based on an observation by a dairymaid that she could not get smallpox becau
9966 [12]

Edward Jenner inferred that a person who once had small pox cannot have it once again. So something is there in these persons which grows after the initial infection which interferes with the secondary infection resisting it.

Explanation:

Edward Jenner is called the Father of Vaccination. Jenner noticed that the milkmaids who deal with the cows all the time don't generally suffer from the cowpox or small pox. Then as an Experiment, he took some sample from the pustules of the cow having pox and then cleaned it and injected the sample into a healthy child. Then when everyone of the locality suffered from the same disease, that child remained healthy. So that lead to infer that there are something in the pustule which lead to resist the secondary infection of this disease. So this lead to the invention of vaccines.
