One large submarine sandwich is divided equally among four people. How much of the sandwich did each person receive?
777dan777 [17]
Each person received 1/4 of the sandwich.
Simply divide 1 by 4 and you will get 0.25, either leave it in decimal form or convert it into fraction which is 1/4 because if you multiply 25 by 4 you will receive 1.

Explain or show how you could find 5 ÷ 1/3 by using the value of 5x3.
erastova [34]

Answer:

20

You could find 5/⅓

by using 5 × 3

Knowing that:

Any number multiplied by 1, gives the number itself.

Dividing any number by itself gives 1.

Writing 5/⅓ as 5/⅓ × 1 doesn't change the value.

Then I can write 5/⅓ as

5/⅓ × (5×3)/(5×3) = 1

This can become

[5×(5×3)] / [(⅓) × (5×3)]

= 75/(15/3)

= 75/5

= 15

or

12/ 3/5

= [12/ (3/5)] × [(5×3)/(5×3)]

= 12×(5×3) / (3/5)×(5×3)

= (12×5×3) / [(3×5×3)/5]

= 180 / (45/5)

= 180 / 9

= 20
