Read the following passage.

English
1 answer:
Gennadij [26K]3 years ago
7 0

Answer:

D

Explanation:

Let's reread the question.

"Based on the passage, what can you infer about the character Mei?"

Since the question is asking you to infer about Mei's character, when reading the passage, pay attention to Mei's attitude, how she acts, and key words used to describe her.

Based on the Mei's actions, such as boasting "We did it!" repeatedly, and getting up to walk around the kitchen, we can infer that she was excited and happy. So we can scratch out B, since nothing in the passage should lead us to thinking Mei is timid.

At the end of the passage, it says "Her brother laughed, surprised and amused. 'Who are you, and what have you done with my sister, Mei?'"

By using the key words "surprised" and "amused", we can infer that Mei does not usually act this outgoing and loud. If she did, there wouldn't be any need to be surprised because that would be her normal character. So we can scratch out A, since Mei's brothers attitude shows that this isn't Mei's usual behavior.

Now, the last two answers are C, "Mei is not very athletic." or D, "Mei is not usually so boastful and energetic." The answer should be more obvious now.

Like B, nothing in the passage should lead us to thinking Mei isn't very athletic, so we can scratch out C.

And now, the only answer we have left is D! Hope this helped! :)

Nick will be more likely to have a hyper cortisol response and show higher levels of physical aggression.

Explanation:

Cortisol is often referred to as a "stress hormone". New studies have shown that in summer higher level of cortisol hormones circulate in blood. Hence Nick or any other person living in hot climate is more likely to be affected by higher cortisol hormones in case of stress or conflict. The higher the cortisol level in the blood the higher will be the physical aggression.
