Answer:

In academic writing, of whatever genre it may be, has some basic steps that must be followed in order to create not just a really good essay overall, but it ensures that each paragraph serves its correct purpose. Things that must be kept in mind when writing an essay, generally, and a paragraph particularly, are:

1. Plan the paragraph, making sure you understand the subject, the purpose, the audience and genre that you will use for your purposes. This will help you clarify the vocabulay, the format, the tone and the structure that will be best suited to fulfill your purpose.

2. Gather all the necessary information that will help you develop your paragraph and provide support to the topic sentence, or main idea, of the paragraph.

3. Organize all the supporting information, including evidence and facts, so that they follow a logical pattern and do not become rather an obstacle for understanding the main topic, or topic sentence of the paragraph.

Then, when this is complete, the actual structuing of the paragraph would be as follows:

1. The first and most important part of the process in writing a paragraph is to establish the topic, and that is done trough a clear and concise sentence that will allow the reader to know what the paragraph is proposing.

2. With the information gathered for your support, start developing the second part of the paragraph in clear, concise, and logically organized structured sentences that will lead the reader to comprehend why the topic sentence is what it is, and its veracity.

3. The final step of paragraph production in academic writing, would be, concluding it often with something called a clincher. This is a very simple, short sentence that leads the reader to know the paragraph is ending. The clincher will have a restatement of the topic sentence, and a closing sentence. If it is a first paragraph of many, then it will also contain a word that allows the reader to know that more information is to come.

A final step to ensure that everything is going smoothly, is reviewing the work done. It ensures that the purpose both of the essay, and of the paragraphs, is met.

I think the answer is "Having seen the Statue of Liberty, the Grand Canyon is more impressive." The Grand Canyon has not seen the Statue of Liberty; you have, but you- or "I" - are nowhere in the sentence. To correct the sentence, it would need to read something like this: Having seen the Statue of Liberty, I find the Grand Canyon more impressive.
